About Me

"Here was an ugly little girl asking for beauty....A little black girl who wanted to rise up out of her pit of blackness and see the world with blue eyes. His outage grew and felt like power. For the first time he honestly wished he could work miracles." Toni Morrison - The Bluest Eye

I am a little black girl trying to rise up out of her pit of blackness. I strive to represent this struggle. My art follows the journey of discovering who I am, what I believe, how I perceive the world, and how I want to be perceived. Artwork that comes from me is a manifestation of me, of the person I was at that point in time. My art gives me thrills because I can paint things I'd never say. My uniqueness is found in the rawness of emotion, in the connection that I have with my art. Uniqueness is found in the time and dedication needed to face my feelings and portray them as accurately as I can. Where the spirit does not work with the hand, there is no art. The standard for assessing the quality of a work of art should be the character of the artists feelings rather than the analysis of composition. I paint for those that understand my plight.

What I hope to accomplish: For people to know, understand and enjoy, and engage in art and artistic practices. I can only hope through my expression someone is able to gain strength and motivation to push forward.
